Pattern {for Click of the Wild}
It’s Click of the Wild time again!
Mallory chose pattern. And I was all “neat! love it! cool!”
Then, I just repeated “pattern” in my head for a few days and couldn’t think of a way I wanted to capture the word.
It has many meanings (I even looked it up in hopes to get a better idea of where to go with it) I thought of the kind of patterns you use to make clothes (my Mom has some cool vintage ones in her sewing room), I thought of the pattern of a fabric or material, I thought of the pattern of shapes/colors/things, I thought of the pattern of habits and human behavior.
But I still had no idea how to capture pattern.
Then, while waiting on clients to get to a photo session, I glanced up and noticed a window with pretty panes in it, and the sunlight coming through and the tree’s outside. And I thought “pattern”. The panes, the leaves. So I took a picture…
On the way home that same night I saw an American flag, and since the American flag kept coming to mind for this focus, I decided to stop and take a quick picture. I wish it had not been folded… it is huge, but didn’t have enough wind that night to straighten it out…
I ended up using this shot for the focus, it just felt right… being July and all
Walking past my bedroom a few days ago my window caught my eye. This time the pattern of the blinds and the pattern of the sun/shadows on the lamp shade…
I am curious, what do you think when you think ‘pattern’? Leave it in the comments please! And head on over to Click of the Wild to see how the other girls saw and captured pattern
Norah {Newborn Session}
My friend Julie had a baby girl back in March. When I did her newborn session I left feeling happy and inspired. Love it when I feel this way about a session!
I feel that I have been honing in on my style (especially with newborns) more lately, and I love feeling like I got just what I wanted out of a shoot.
I feel like I just over-used the word ‘feel’. See the irony there? ha.
Meet baby Norah, and her proud big brothers…
Julie painted this pillow for Norah’s room while she was pregnant, I think it’s gorgeous!
Julie’s sister made this gorgeous dress and hat for her when she was a baby! How special is that?!
More of Julie’s art on display…
Julie also made this blanket while she was pregnant. She used random pieces to pull it all together. It has some of her own clothes sewn in, along with scraps of fabric and lace, and even sewing pieces that she did as a child. I am in love with it.
Thank you Julie, for always trusting and encouraging me xoxo
These Moments…
Scott, Heather and Ella {Family Session}
One of the reasons I love doing what I do: I meet people (like Scott and Heather) have a great maternity session (click here to see it) then a few months later I go to their home and capture them as a family. Love.
Scott and Heather, thank you. So much. XoXo
Hands {for Click of the Wild}
Linden chose ’hands’ for our Click of the Wild focus this time. And I loved it immediately.
Hands.
There are so many ways to photograph hands. I had all kinds of idea’s, but as usual, I tended to just notice and focus more on hands when I had my camera out. Because you know, making time to make an image in my head come to life just does not seem to happen these days!
Here is how I saw – and captured – hands.
Head over to Click of the Wild to see what image I chose to use, and to see what the other girls got!
Thanks for looking!
These Moments…
Lane {1 year old}
The last time I had Lane in front of my camera was here <<click<< ……he has grown up so much since then! It happens fast, doesn’t it?
He turned one year old in May. I went to their house and we wandered around capturing him as he is, at one year old. Big blue eyes, adorable smile, curious little hands, feet still new to walking and legs just a little wobbly…
….his big brother suddenly snuck in and handed him this - haha! He felt sure he needed a toy gun in his photo shoot! Boys…..
The color image is my favorite, but, something about this b&w gets me too….
His Momma is in the doggie business (you can find here HERE) and I was amazed at how wonderful this dog was with Lane. He allowed him to do whatever (including picking up his foot and examining it!) and would stay nearby as if protecting him. Then, when Lane would stand up (still a little wobbly at this time) the dog would put his nose under his arm and help nudge him up. It was really cool watching them together!
Paulette, thanks so much for asking me to do these for ya! xxoo
Isla Jane {Newborn Session}
You may remember me talking about sweet little Isla Jane making an 8-week early appearance here, in Kristen’s maternity post…. Well, I finally got around to doing her newborn pictures back in March, and let me just say, she was a dream subject. She would move her hands into the most precious little positions, which I loved, since posing a newborn is not my strong suit!
Meet my niece, Isla Jane….
I loved this one so much both in color and b&w, so here are both
she smiles. a lot.
More happy smiley faces at the end of our session… love!!
Kristen, thanks for always trusting me and cheering me on! xoxo
