Christmas flashback

Seriously, I have had intentions of getting this post up since the day after Christmas. Well, my real intentions might have been 2 or 3 days after, but here we are 10 11 12 days after Christmas and I am throwing it together. Finally.  I seem to be caught up in the day-to-day of life.  You know, the kids, the house, the laundry, the what-to-cook-for-dinners? Yeah, that. I am not the cleanest or most organized person by any means. There are many times that I think please don’t let anyone drop in, I’d be so embarrassed because it looks like a tornado came through this place! But while I am not Miss Clean and Organized, I do like for it to be that way. And I do work on it. But, my girls are asleep right now so I am sitting down amongst Cheerios on the floor and toys and books and juice cups, and I am blogging! (Does it count for anything that the broom is leaning against the wall just off to my right where I started sweeping?!)

Lately I have found myself posting quick posts, the ones I can get up in just a few minutes and be done with it.  And that has a lot to do with this:

Oh yes. Bristol Bee likes to follow me around and hang out on my legs, and that slows this Momma down a lot!

So, enough of the rambling, let me get down to the point of this post.

Christmas. It was wonderful! Kids really do make it extra special.

Every year for something like 20 years my MawMaw has had a “Candy Making Day” at her house for us grand-daughters. We used to spend the night – and a few still do – we eat breakfast, have an apron exchange (everyone brings an apron and we play the “White Elephant” game… don’t know about it? Google it, it is fun!) then we get down to the business of making Christmas goodies, wearing our new aprons of course! Well this year I was sick and missed it for the first time ever :( I must admit, I was so bummed.

But, that didn’t stop me from going up to MawMaw’s once I got well and cooking up some goodies. Heidi also came (she had to leave early on the original candy making day because her little girl didn’t feel good) and we just had a good day of baking and making candy with MawMaw and our girls.

Here are a few shots I got of Kennedy and Tori making lemon cookies…

Interesting fact: the rolling pin they used to roll out the dough belonged to Tori and Kennedy’s great-great-great-grandmother!

And here they are proudly showing off the finished product

After the lemon cookies they lost interest in the kitchen and instead let Poppa read books to them and just played together :)

Then Christmas… oh Kennedy was SO excited this year! I took snapshots, but tried to just be in the moment more than getting great pictures. Because often if you are not careful you’ll find yourself behind the camera capturing the moments instead of living them :)

While doing some baking of my own…

I looked over and saw Bristol holding her “taggie” and just about to fall asleep watching me while she sat on the counter in her Bumbo seat…

I thought it was pretty adorable :)

And I’ll end this post with one last picture from Christmas morning; Kennedy digging in her stocking… This picture makes me giddy with Christmas happiness.

Miscellaneous Monday

As I have mentioned before, Kennedy is not exactly easy to get pictures of.  So to say that I was a little bit excited that I managed to capture her – with a real smile and an adorable look – is an understatement. The lighting conditions were terrible in this room, so I was using flash. But still, I love these!

Happy Monday :)

Happy New Year!

Today I saw a quote on a water bottle, and if you know me, you know I love quotes. I loved this one right away, it said:

In a world where you can be anything, be yourself.

Happy New Year to you all! May the new year find you healthy and happy and be a wonderful year for you. And remember, be yourself. :)

XoXo

Miscellaneous Monday

I promise to post a ‘real’ post soon.

The last few days have been exciting. And I think the picture above shows the excitement. Along with exciting, it has been busy! I am currently going through pictures, trying to get them edited, backed up, etc. I am hearing “Momma, watch this!” and then “Did you see that Momma?!” about every 5 seconds. It is Kennedy’s most favorite thing to say right now.

I promise to blog soon… I always feel kinda bad to see how many people visit the blog on Monday when I haven’t posted anything. So here I am posting one picture and a promise to post more soon :)

I hope your Christmas was Merry and bright and your Monday is wonderful!

Merry Christmas!

I had all sorts of different idea’s for Christmas card pictures this year. But what did I do? I ran out to our yard, chose a spot with good light that was not my first choice but I didn’t really have another choice due to the time of day, and snapped a few. I took the easy way out for several reasons, one being that I was SO busy, and another reason is I didn’t want to make too much of a big deal about it for fear that the girls would not cooperate at all. Maybe next year.

I did find adorable pink glitter santa hats in the dollar section at Target that I thought were perfect considering I did not have them dressed in the traditional Christmas colors. And I think they turned out really cute!

This is the one we used on the Christmas cards:

And here are some out-takes:

Love that Kennedy is laughing in this one, but Bristol is interested in something in the backyard…

Then Kennedy smiles right into the camera but Bristol is still looking at something in the backyard!

Then Bristol finally turns around with a look that clearly says “What do you want?!”

Then Bristol gets tickled…

Notice the legs kicking while she laughs?

So there you go. Merry Christmas from our family to yours.

Miscellaneous Monday

You know the old saying “A picture is worth a thousand words“?  I do love that quote, but sometimes the thousand words one might interpret from a picture might be untrue. Take this picture for example:

Looks like Kennedy is refusing to turn around and has her fingers in her ears as if she is refusing to listen. (which is probably not a far stretch for Kennedy when it comes to  taking pictures! haha!) But, in reality she just got distracted by something while making silly faces! She did manage to get turned around towards me again though:

Today I am just barely pausing in front of my computer long enough to do this super quick post. We are counting down the days till Christmas and squeezing in all the family time and cooking making we can manage! :)

More to come tomorrow (?) of these two in their cute santa hats!

Sean, Julie and Emerson

If you read my blog much at all you have probably heard me rave about Julie and her awesome work as an artist.  (check out her blog HERE) I did family pictures for her, her hubby Sean and their sweet baby boy Emerson awhile back… These are a few of my favorites..

I love both these next two… so I am posting both :)

Miscellaneous Monday

I posted last week that the girls were sick. Well, we all ended up getting it. Lets just say that I do not want the stomach virus again anytime soon.

Moving on now.

Kennedy loves to throw a blanket over her head and be a “monster” these days…

she is wearing her Uncles hat in this picture to be an extra cool monster :)

She finds it hysterical when the blanket is pulled off her head!

Next, I give you a sweet picture of Bristol that I snapped last week.

And how about a little sneak peek of a shoot I recently did in the freezing cold…

Seriously, it was so cold when we did Tiffany’s pictures. Notice her hair blowing? That wind made it feel 20 degree’s cooler! But Tiffany did awesome….. full post to come later.

Short and sweet today ya’ll :)

Have a wonderful Monday!

Under the weather :(

Mommy-radar is on high around here right now. Both the girls have been/are sick. :(     I think they are getting better now. But still not feeling like themselves yet.

So, till we all get back on track and back to blogging, here is a couple of pictures of Bristol that I like…

One thing I have discovered after having baby #2. The ‘firsts’ like the learning to point (first picture) and the crawling (2nd picture), those little things and milestones are just as exciting as they were with the first baby! We laugh when she points and we cheered like crazy when she first started crawling. And to make the crawling even sweeter, Kennedy would clap and cheer right along with us, and then would say “Way to go Sissy! Way to go!”  We loved it!  However, we now here “No Sissy, no!” more often considering Bristol is all over the place and in to everything!
