Oh it’s that crazy-busy-wonderful-time-of-the-year again! I may not be on top of my blogging these days (I always fall short on blogging this time of year), but we’ve been soaking up the season around here One thing we do every year is have “Candy Day” at my Grandparents house. I come from a large family, the oldest grandchild of 25 (that’s just on my Moms side!) and we have some of the best grandparents in the world. Really.
Since I was just a little girl (seems no one can remember exactly what year we started this tradition) but I think we’ve been doing it for 20+ years (okay, I feel old now!) We all (girls only, the boys do their thing on Thanksgiving, but that’s another blog post!) gather at MawMaw’s house and make a huge mess and a whole lot of candy. It’s our tradition. Poppa makes breakfast (sausage and pancakes – the pancakes are delicous-melt-in-your-mouth!) then we get down to the business of melting chocolate and making the goodies. At the end of the day we all load up a platter and take some home with us.
Looking around Saturday I realized just how blessed we are. We started this as little girls, now many of us have our own babies, and our grandparents still put forth the effort and time it takes to get us all together and cook for us and help us make candy. Poppa and MawMaw, Thank you. And I believe that I speak for all of us when I say that.
I really did not take a lot of pictures, but I did grab a couple…
And these Instagram shots are from my sister and my future sister-in-law (thanks Tressa and Kristen)
Love this one of me and MawMaw
Thanks for looking!
