Art
Simply put, I love art.
And I am incredibly lucky to have a friend who is a fabulous artist! If you keep up with my blog you may remember the tree that Julie painted for me in my nursery….. I recently asked her to do 3 square canvas’ for Kennedy, I wanted something that could go in her nursery now and then could go in her ‘big girl’ room later. And I love what Julie did! I had some idea’s of what I wanted, but she took it and made it so much better than I could have imagined! She even personalized it with Kennedy’s name (notice the tag on the car).
So anyway, I wanted to share these pictures with you, and let you know that Julie is now doing custom art to sell! She has recently started a blog that you should definitely go check out. (http://artbyjpaige.blogspot.com/) and if you want something unique/custom/personal give her a shout. She can do modern, traditional, something for your baby, or for an older child, she recenty did a cool laundry room sign made out of wood (which makes for a perfect gift by the way!)…. so she is not limited to canvas only. If you have something in mind, shoot her an email and see what she can do.
Her email is: mclanton@carolina.rr.com
I jumped on the bandwagon earlier this week. The facebook bandwagon. Until now I have stayed away, when my friends would try to get me to sign up I would be like “ah, I don’t know… I just don’t have time….” But I recently got an email from Candice at thebeautifulmess telling me about a group of area photographers networking on Facebook, so I thought “oh yeah! I’m in!” and immediately signed up! And by the look of things, I am pretty much the last one on board! (Thanks Candice, by the way!)
Friends shoot!
Meet Leah, Katie and Ashton (pictured in that order below!) It ended up being pretty cold when we were in the shade but these girls toughed it out.

Business Cards and Pricing
It has been a long time dream of mine to have my own photography business. I started out taking pictures as a hobby, and though it is still a hobby, I have had enough people ask me to take their pictures that I finally got a price list together. And business cards. Whew, this is sort of scary! Up till now, I have never advertised to take anyones pictures. I have been blessed to just take a few pictures of someone, then be recommended by someone else, and so the story goes. But I also worked full time up till 4 months ago when I had my little girl, Kennedy. So now, here I am, a stay-at-home Mom and I have decided that now seems to be a good time to take that giant step forward – hence the price list and business cards! (is that just a small step, because it feels like a really big one to me! haha!) You may have noticed the prices listed on the right side of my blog, those are just my beginning prices, they are subject to change once I get into the biz and learn the cost and the ups and downs and the ins and outs. But I will of course change the pricing on my blog if and when those do change.
I am still not interested in doing weddings, but thanks again to those of you who have asked! I would like to stick to pretty much anything but weddings! Kids, families, seniors, even engagement and bridal… So please, if you would like to have your pictures taken, shoot me an email, I would love to hear from you!

and because posts are always better pictures, here are my new business cards!!
Kristen
Remember that ‘fabulous shoot’ I mentioned last week? Well here it is! (at least I think it is fabulous!) Kristen is my brothers girlfriend and like a sister to the rest of us. I had taken her picture over a year ago and wanted to get her in front of my camera again; for one reason just to get some more recent pix of her, and for another reason, I felt like I had come a long way since I last did her pictures, she agreed and so we headed out for a little fun….
High-Low
Its a little ‘game’ Stuart and I have played for a long time. Normally while we are sitting around the table, eating supper, one of us will ask “what was your High-Low today?” And you tell the ‘high’ of your day and the ‘low’. (Are you thinking this is incredibly cheesy?!) well, I love it! Sometimes it makes you think of things you wouldn’t normally think to tell each other, or it makes you realize how something so simple can be a highlight of your day, or it might be something really exciting…… the low could be something like “I slept thru my alarm clock!” or you might think and realize you didn’t have a ‘low’ at all – it was just a fabulous day!
Anyway, we haven’t played it in awhile – I don’t know why – but the other night one of us brought it up and I thought of how every single morning my day starts out with a ‘high’ when I walk across the hall and see my little girl looking just like this:
