Fall

As of last Friday, Fall is  officially here :)

and I am excited about it. While I’ll miss bare feet, swimming pools, sunscreen, popsicles, long days, and all the other wonderful summer things… I am just as happy to welcome leg warmers, jeans, soups and chili, camp fires, fall candles, and of course the anticipation of Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love it!

Over the weekend we went to one of my all-time favorite drive-ins for supper, South 21 :)  My parents used to take us when we were little, they would put a table in the back of our van and all us kids would eat back there. And so, we did the same for our girls this weekend. We loaded up their little table, two chairs, and then let them in the back once we got there. They absolutely loved it!

 Stu and I loved it too, as we left he made the comment that it felt like a “successful night out” with them, and it was!

Happy Fall – now go light a good fall scented candle :)

And…. Happy Birthday Poppa! We love you!

Miscellaneous Monday

Every once in awhile I like to publicly (well, as ‘public’ as this blog gets!) say a big Thank You. I feel that my photography is rewarding to me in many ways. I love the feeling that I get when I get ‘the shot’. Whether it be that I captured the light just right, the expression on my subjects face, the ‘moment’, whatever it may be, I love capturing it. And when I get feedback from you all, my friends, family and most of all, my clients, it makes that feeling just that much better.
So Thank YOU for your appreciation of my work, for your encouragement, for your kind words, for your telling me what it means to have ‘your’ moments captured. And of course, for having a good time in front of my camera :) I love it!

Every once in a while I receive what I like to call “good mail” …. and that really makes my day, thanks y’all!!

Happy Monday, and I’ll probably be back tomorrow with a few snapshots from our weekend…seems like this Monday is flying by so I’ll just try to get to those tomorrow :)

Mark and Dawn + their 6

Mark and Dawn and their kids (Chase, Chadwyck, Morgan, Skylar, Bristol and Jett) love the beach. They have wanted to do a photo shoot there for years, and this year, we made it happen!
First we shot in the campground they always stay at, starting at a place they often go for ice cream…

Okay, I am going to keep it real here… as we moved towards the beach, I kept watching the sun. And as the sun sank further down in the sky, I got a sinking feeling myself. I do not often get to shoot at the beach, and I feel like the light is so different there. As the sun set I realized that I had  misjudged how much light we had left… and boy, was I scrambling! I tried not to let panic set in, but herding 8 people around trying to get what I wanted – with the light I wanted – was making me crazy!
Mark, Dawn and all the kids were awesome (thanks guys!) but it was a lesson learned for me. I’ll be thinking of this next time I shoot at the beach for sure!

Dawn warned me that she does not always love how she looks in pictures (typical for a lot of people) but can I just say… Dawn, you look gorgeous!

 Thank you all for asking me to capture you at your ’2nd home’ and for being awesome while we did it :)

Chris, Jennifer and Logan

Last year when I took pictures for this family Logan was just a little thing; now he is walking all over the place, has a great personality and loves throwing his baseball (which Chris and Jennifer brought along and I am so glad they did) Oh, and he is going to be a big brother in December – yay!!
We met in Monroe and wondered around snapping pictures… here are some of my favs :)

Chris and Jennifer, it is always a pleasure having you in front of my camera – thank you! And I am excited to meet baby #2 in December :)

Miscellaneous Monday

Bristol got her hair trimmed for the first time last week :)

Kennedy showed her how it was done first… and while the picture makes it look like she was eager to get in the chair, when it came time to do so, she was not so sure…

But once she got up there, she did GREAT!

Of course, I think the c-a-n-d-y helped in keeping her still and happy ;)

Have a great Monday everyone!

Addalyn

Ohhh, prepare yourself for some newborn sweetness! Meet Addalyn:

love me a big baby yawn (everytime I see this shot I yawn too! ………. now, how many of you are yawning?? haha!)

Sweet baby toes poking out of the blanket :)

Nothing like the comfort of Momma ‘shhhing’ or the comfort of Daddy’s hands….

We finished off the session with a few family shots….

Carl and Shannon, I loved having your sweet baby in front of my camera…. she is precious, enjoy!

Donica and Maddie

Loved having this Mother Daughter pair in front of my camera! We had a great time capturing them - as they are today…..

I love Maddies freckles!

I love the green grass and the simple feel of this next one….

 Donica and Maddie, thank you! It was a pleasure working with you :)

Miscellaneous Monday…. uh, Tuesday

Helloooo September! Now let the crazy fall rush begin :)

Guess what this little chick did over the weekend?

While sitting in a booth eating at Andy’s, she leans over and pokes the poor gentleman sitting behind us in the head and ear with her straw – on purpose! It was one of those moments that I was mortified and laughing!  The guy was so nice and said something like “Aw, she can poke me as much as she wants too!” I guess Bristol didn’t expect him to notice a straw being poked in his ear… because when he turned around and started talking it embarrassed her and she sat back down!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These silly girls pulled out some boots recently and pranced around the house in them….
Mom, I know your gonna wish you could fix Kennedy’s hair in this shot…just to get it out of her face ;)
Playing outside is still a favorite thing we do these days….
While I am excited about cooler weather and all it brings, I do dread to have to worry about shoes and socks!
Happy Tuesday! Hope you all have a wonderful one…
