Helms {Family Session}

Meet Jarrad, Megan and sweet little Tucker. We wandered around the Helms family land and got some pictures of them back in the fall… I fell in love with Tucker’s red hair and blue eyes – he is precious! Here are a few of my favorites :)

Megan and Jarrad, thank you for asking me to capture your family with my camera :)

Happy Birthday Tenley!

And suddenly my baby is two years old!

Wow.

Two years ago today we welcomed our 3rd baby girl. Tenley Rhyann. She is our blue-eyed, thumb sucking, independent, sweet girl. And I cannot believe two years has passed so quickly.

I have found that the hospital pictures are some of my favorites. I absolutely love to look back on these, I feel like they take me right back to that day and all those wonderful ‘new’ moments…. finding out boy or girl… telling the name… showing them off to friends and family and big sisters for the first time… holding them… oh, holding them! So, I went through my folder of Tenley’s hospital and first day at home pictures and pulled out a few of my favorites :)

Happy Happy Birthday, Tenley! We love you so very much!

Profile {Click of the Wild}

Linden chose our focus word for Click of the Wild this time, and I loved it as soon as she sent it to us. Profile.
So why did I wait till the last day to pull my camera out and focus on this word? I have no idea! I had one particular image in mind that I really wanted to try and get. But I just got busy and didn’t make it happen.
So, while outside planting flowers today Kennedy walked around the house carrying all this stuff and I said “I need to get a picture of you!” So I did.

2014-04-28_0014.jpg

This shot was from a doggie session I did on Saturday, I feel like it fit the focus word pretty well :)
2014-04-28_0015.jpg

While I had my camera outside getting Kennedy’s picture today I decided to grab one of Bristol too. I fell in love with this shot. Everything about it. From her little cheeks all puffed out, her hands holding the dandelions, the way she squeezed her eyes shut, her little lips, to the dandelions blowing away…
2014-04-28_0016.jpg

I also love it in black and white…
2014-04-28_0017.jpg

okay, now head over to Click of the Wild and see how the other girls captured profile.

These Moments…

If you follow me on Social Media, you may have seen this shot of my girls already. On Easter Sunday, they were all in their matching dresses and I wanted to run outside before leaving for church to grab a quick picture. The wind roared, Tenley screamed, Bristol cried and Kennedy informed me she was cold.
And then I was all why can’t I get just one good shot of my girls dressed up together?! I do it for others, why can’t I do it for myself?!
Sigh.
But then, when I uploaded this picture to my computer, I laughed so hard. In a way, it feels just right. Oh yeah, for sure I wish I had a pretty picture of them all three standing and smiling at me. But, this is such a good reminder of real life. I know I will love this photo even more 5 years from now!
2014-04-28_0001.jpg

That week I did what I do best. Just captured them as they are. Not dressed up and not posing together. I love these moments. But, Tenley still refuses to let me take her picture. I may have to try harder this week ;)
In this first shot they were watching caterpillars in their cocoons. It was amazing and now I realize that I didn’t get a shot of it! I’m sorry..

2014-04-28_0003.jpg

Kennedy loves hiking in the woods. So as we hiked I asked her to stop and let me take her picture a few times…

2014-04-28_0006.jpg

I love these next two shots SO much. The sun was high so the light was not the best, but it doesn’t matter because this is my three running to the swings. And I feel like I managed to capture a small part of their childhood here. (well, first picture 2 of them, obviously… ;) )

I did managed to get Bristol to give me a few minutes for some pictures later that same day… I love these. They are so Bristol Bee!

Julie {Maternity Session}

Julie now has a sweet baby girl (whose newborn session I’ll post soon) but before she was born we got a few picture of Julie and her boys, Emerson and Liam. And these, are a few of my favorites :)

Click of the Wild {Texture}

Here we go, another installment of Click of the Wild! This time, I chose our focus; Texture.

I feel like texture is everywhere you look. So one morning last week I took time to just shoot texture when I saw it. This is what I got…

2014-04-14_0031.jpg

This is the second shot I got. And as soon I took the picture I realized that I really loved the texture of Kennedy’s hair, and that is what I wanted to use for this focus… So I took a few. Then a few more later in the day!

Friends

A group of good friends + confetti… what’s not to love?!

We did this session back in the fall. These girls impress me. They are kind and fun and beautiful and always just seem to have fun together. They jump out of their cars borrowing items of clothing or asking each others advice on what to wear, they compliment each other and they laugh. So much. I love it.

This is the second time I’ve done pictures for these girls (you can see the first session a few years ago HERE) Actually, Kaylan joined in on the fun this time, and Mackenzie was not able to make it…
From left; Liz, Amber, Brittany, Kaylan and Andrea…

Click of the Wild >>Street Photography

I was really excited about this focus. Alicia chose it and I had idea’s of a busy street – and a yellow cab, to be exact. That is how I wanted to capture street photography. But, I got busy and ended up running to the nearest town and spent all of 15 minutes wandering around getting these shots. On the last day.

I actually saw a guy with a cool orange car when I was trying to find a parking space, and I realllllly wanted to ask him if I could photograph him and his car. But by the time I found a parking space and got out he was gone.

Kristen {Maternity}

I texted my sister-in-law and asked “do you want maternity pix?” she replied “yeah I think I do!” And so, that weekend we did a quick little sesh at my parents house. While we were shooting she wondered out loud if we were doing them a little bit early (she was 31 weeks)… and then the next day her water broke and she was hospitalized. And then she had a sweet baby girl, named Isla Jane, 8 weeks early.
She and Isla are both doing great now. And we are so glad we did the maternity pictures when we did!

Kennedy came along with me that day, and I took a test shot of her before Kristen got there… my Mom made her this bunny a few years ago. And she went through a phase of taking that bunny everywhere that she went!

The Hill Boys

Another pre-Christmas session…

Meet Silas, Canyon and Branson. Three rough and tough brothers who are totally cute :)

These three just gained another baby brother a few weeks ago! Which may have been part of the reason Branson (the youngest here) cried (and cried and cried….) when it came time to do this session. He only wanted his Mom, even though she was right there – he wanted to be in her arms. Or on her legs. Moms-having-another-baby anxiety at it’s best.

Finally, Stephanie just had to disappear and watch from behind a bush (not even kidding! haha) while I did my best. And let me say, I am so proud of these. Because he really was NOT having it. At all.
I am also so proud of Silas and Canyon. They hung in there like champs the entire time. Even though it took way longer than they cared to be there. They did amazing. And Branson? He came around. I had him laughing by the time we finished. Score! There I go, high-fiving myself again, ya’ll!
