Thank you, so much.

This weekend will be a busy weekend of photoshoots for me. It will also be the last of my sessions for this year.
I want to take a second to extend out a huge and heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you who have gotten in front of my camera this year. Seriously, Thank you. I love taking pictures and capturing memories and moments. And I love being a stay-at-home Mom. So while you may hire me for pretty pictures, to capture you and/or your families, you are actually helping me be able to stay at home with my family. And for that, I am so grateful.

Yes, I still leave my kids while I shoot, and sometimes while I edit. And yes, there is a balancing act to working at home where sometimes I feel like I am working all the time – because it is here and hard to walk away from. And there are days that I feel like I say “Not right now, Mommy’s working” too many times. BUT, life is about balancing isn’t it? No matter who you are and what you do. You balance. You learn to work with the ebb and the flow. You learn to set times and schedules and make the most of it.

I am so thankful to do what I love – capturing moments and light and emotions, AND stay at home with my children. My heart is full and happy and I couldn’t do it without you. So thank you so very very much.

And now, a few random pictures I grabbed while looking for the best light for a session…

I had to get several different views/angles of these next few ;) fall…leaves. I love it.

Brooks

Meet sweet baby Brooks…

When I started taking his picture he opened his eyes and looked around…

…and then he yawned. And I love baby yawns!

He is 17 months younger than big sister Willa, and I am pretty sure they will find plenty to get into over the years ;)

Red

It’s Click of the Wild time again! If you don’t know about Click of the Wild… it is a bi-weekly blog that I am a part of with a great group of girls/photographers – we have a ’focus’ for two weeks and then post one shot each of that ‘focus’.
This time Alicia chose “red”. I loved this idea of red. But, I totally drew a blank. One thing that kept coming to mind was a heart.
Red… hearts… yeah.
And the other thing was art/paint. So, I gave Kennedy some finger paint and told her to go at it :)

And that is how I ended up with these two images:

Head on over to Click of the Wild and see what the other girls got – and see which of these two images I chose to post :) And thanks for looking!

Miscellaneous Monday

A random morning at our house looks something like this…

That flower hat? It has a little story… It was a gift to Kennedy from my sister, Tressa Ann and Kristen, my brothers girlfriend (at the time). They had taken Kennedy and Bristol to Disney on Ice and let them each choose a gift to take home. Well, fast forward a few months and my brother proposed to Kristen. When she asked Kennedy to be her flower girl Kennedy got so excited and said she had the perfect hat she could wear. The flower hat of course.
Flower girl…flower hat…made sense to her!
Well, Russ (my brother) being the goof that he is told Kennedy that of course she could wear it. We joked about it for months, the whole time Kennedy thinking that she would be wearing that hat on the wedding day. (the other suggestions and idea’s we had never seemed as good as that flower hat to Kennedy) Well, the big day came and as the girls all walked down the stairs to go out to the ceremony, Kennedy was halfway down when she stopped and spun around and in a panicked voice said “Momma! My flower hat!”
I cannot remember exactly what I said, but I think I said something about how “Oh we left it at home.. and you look gorgeous without it…” and then the wedding director took over from there and reassured her.
She happily walked down the aisle without the flower hat. Thankfully!

Happy Monday and thanks for looking!

Heather and Scott {Maternity}

Heather and I talked on the phone and texted a few times before their session. But (as always with new clients) we didn’t actually meet till the day of their session, and as soon as I met them I felt like we were friends. They are just that nice. I loved having them in front of my camera :)
They told me they had wanted, wished, hoped and prayed for this baby for awhile now. They are so excited to finally become parents, and honestly, even though I hadn’t known them long I felt like I suddenly shared a little bit of their excitement and happiness over this pregnancy, and the baby girl they would soon hold.
Last I heard they are still patiently awaiting her arrival. Her due date was last weekend, so she seems to be taking her time ;) And, Heather’s birthday is today! So, Happy Happy Birthday to you Heather, and I sure hope you are holding that sweet baby girl soon!

Meet Scott, Heather and Harley (the dog)…

Mmmm, Muffins!

She wakes up and sits at the bar, and eats a chocolate chip muffin for breakfast. Jammie shirt, no pants, chocolate smeared all over her face. I love it all. And she does too :)
The yellow flowers that happened to be sitting there that morning framed these shots perfectly…

Ginny, thank you for asking me to do these!

Country

“The simple life, Country” that was our focus this time around over on Click of the Wild. And honestly, I kinda struggled with this one!

I had idea’s. But they weren’t easy to get. The timing and other things were out of my control. The first idea was a combine cutting a corn field. To me, this really says ”country” and it’s something that I see a lot where we live. But, most of the corn fields were cut by the time we started this focus, and the ones that weren’t cut yet, I never saw them out there cutting… Another idea was something I saw a couple of years ago; at dusk a pickup truck (lights on) with a trailer, and a couple of guys loading hay bales. The scene was gorgeous. But, I didn’t see that again while we were working on this focus.
And lastly, I did see this, but didn’t have my camera with me! Grrr…. I was driving down the road and got behind a guy wearing a baseball cap and flannel shirt driving a tractor. Yep, that’s country, and I loved it. But, I didn’t get to capture it :(
This is what I ended up with. Two silo’s in a soy bean field.

This next shot was only seconds after the one above…amazing what a little change in camera settings will do ;)

Head over to Click of the Wild to see what the other girls got. Enjoy! And thanks for looking.

Miscellaneous Monday

Confession, I think the title “Miscellaneous Monday” is corny. But I can’t think of anything clever right now. And I really just want to share a post full of random pictures from the last few months. And, since I haven’t done a ‘Miscellaneous Monday’ post in awhile, well, here goes…!

I love this picture, even the mess…

Bristol Bee, always being silly!

Tenley sporting some Minnie Mouse ears…
2013-10-27_0003.jpg

This is what a Sunday afternoon often looks like at my parents house. Family, smoke from the grill making the sunrays look even more gorgeous, little ones playing and adults playing (cornhole) too… On this particular Sunday afternoon my brother and sister-in-law told us they are expecting their first baby :)
2013-10-27_0004.jpg

And here she is… Little Momma ;)
2013-10-27_0005.jpg

Sister’s and their babies. And dress up clothes… Notice Kennedy has two babies in her stroller and two seats (with babies) hanging on the handles?! Whew.
2013-10-27_0010.jpg

Our favorite spot on our walk… we stop here and just play, or ride down the hill as fast as they can on their bikes :)

Hey Tenley, where is your belly button?

Tenley is a Momma’s girl. I snapped these pictures last month when she came up to me and put one hand on my leg while she sucked her thumb with the other hand… She also loves holding my hand, so I got a picture of that too. I want to remember these sweet moments. Because right now I may complain that I can’t walk without stepping on her, or that I just need her to get off my legs… I know it will not always be this way…
2013-10-27_0017.jpg

And really, who can resist that face?!

It’s Fall Y’all!

2013-10-24_0002.jpg

Oh! I love fall…

Homemade caramel apples and trips to the mountains are just two of my favorite things about fall. We are actually off to the mountains as soon as my hubby gets home, and these caramel apples are freshly made this morning and will be going with us :)

And, to make it even better, it’s supposed to be coooold up there and we are having chili for supper. Oh yeah, I’m excited!

2013-10-24_0001.jpg

Now, before you start thinking I have it all together and everything is perfect over here let me admit that I just stuffed a few things further under my girls beds that they didn’t clean up. Now I feel better since I can’t see it hanging out, I’ll deal with that later.
I managed to mop the kitchen, but then Tenley ran across the floor and fell. Hard. (for the record, I didn’t laugh, not even a little bit!) Speaking of Tenley, she is still in her jammies. It is almost 3:00pm.
Kennedy and Bristol just now got dressed.

Ha. Just keeping it real ;)

Happy Weekending and Happy Fall Y’all!
I’ll be back from the mountains in time to shoot two sessions this weekend, I’ll try to get sneak peeks up on my Facebook page :)
